Murano

Murano is a collection of islands, which are linked by bridges, located in the Venetian Lagoon of North-Italy. It is about 1.5 kilometres from Venice as well as Murano itself measures merely 1.5 kilometres across. It used to be an independent commune, but it now just a fraction of the commune of Venice. Murano is well-known for its glass making and some of these historical glass making companies are amongst the most important brands worldwide when it comes to glass. (Including companies such as Venini, Ferro Murano and Seguso.) Most of the glass factories of the island know of a trademark, to protect them from the foreign markets. The oldest glass factory of Murano which is still active to this day, was founded in 1866! Our tour takes you to see some of these beautiful glass works!

Burano

Burano is another island located in the Venetian Lagoon, located near Torcello, and approximately 7 kilometres from Venice. Burano is mostly known for its lace work as well as its brightly coloured houses. The small, brightly coloured houses are very popular amid artists. There is a specific system when it comes down to the colours of the houses; thus, if someone wants to paint their house, they must send a request to the government. Besides the coloured houses, tourist attractions include San Martino (church), Oratorio di Santa Barbara and a museum for lace making. Have your cameras ready to capture this colourful sight!

Torcello

Torcello is the oldest populated region of Venice, located at the northern end of the Lagoon. Torcello used to know of numerous palaces, parishes and cloisters but unfortunately, most of them have almost disappeared - as the Venetians wanted to recycle all of the useful building material. Currently, the last remaining medieval buildings form a so-called ensemble of four edifices. The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta is assumed to be Torcello's main attraction. It has a basilica-form, including a lot of 11th- and 12th century Byzantine work, including beautiful mosaics. Other tourist attractions include the Church of Santa Fosca, the Museo Provinciale di Torcello, the Palazzo dell'Archivio and the Palazzo del Consiglio. Plus, Attila's Throne (an ancient stone chair) is also a noteworthy sight to visit. Moreover, Torcello also houses a so-called Devil's Bridge, named Ponte del Diavolo. We give you a tour around the Cathedral as well as we will see some of the other highlights.
