Viaggi di Architettura takes all architecture lovers to Tel Aviv, a real melting pot of foreign and local-born architects’ works. In this ‘White City’, a UNESCO world heritage site, you'll find a collection of over 4,000 Bauhaus-style buildings.

Architecture in Tel Aviv was adapted to the local climate. Buildings were built on pillars as The Engel House by Zeev Rechter being the pioneer. Paradigma Design Gallery founded by Anat Benvenisti in 2010 to promote design among the your generation and Cinema Hotel, the Esther Cinema, maintains its elegant structure in original Bauhaus style design.

Walking tour starts from Neve Tzedek neighbourhood, latest fashionable and expensive district with immense culture and history. Strolling towars Shabazi street there will be many art deco bistrots, shops and restaurants. While Rothschild Boulevard is an arts district, with galleries including Alon Segev Gallery, and Sommer Contemporary Art. Moving towards Bialik street, there is a small Bauhaus Museum.

At Jerusalem, first stop is at the Yad Vashem by Safdie Architects, the world holocaust rememberance center situated at the cliff of Herzl Montain. This immense architectural cement structure hidden between the hills is almost invisible to the visitor. Inside there are visual – photos and videos – installations in the remembrance of Shoah. Whilst at the historical part of the city, at the centre there is The Wailing Wall (HaKotel in Hebrew and al-Mabka in Arabic), one of the most venerated locations both for Jews and Muslims. It is found in one of the utmost sacred sites for Islam, adjacent to the Dome of the Rock and al-Aqsa mosque and Holy Sepulcre for Christians.

Israel has the highest number of museums per capita in the world, some of the most renown are Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art or Design Museum Holon by Ron Arad is the first museum in Israel dedicated completely to design.

An afternoon at Jaffa is worthwhile to visit the luxurious port, and walk around the winding roads filled with numerous art galleries and stone buildings. While at Jaffa, let’s not forget Har-El Gallery with the creations of designer Omri Paecht, the Horace Richter Gallery and Lauri Recanati’s showroom famous for the mosaics in Gaudì style created made by glass or ceramic.
